Google and Facebook have
launched Persian versions to their capabilities. Both Google and facebook have
acknowledged that this quick upgrade is done in order to help Iranian people in
their on going online war(more of it here) against the government.
Google has added a Persian
(also called Farsi) translator to its Google Translator. However Google says in
its blog that “ As with all machine translation, it’s not perfect yet” and is
“working hard to improve it for the additional 40 languages available via
Google Translate”. It has also asked users to contribute to make it better.
In a very similar fashion
Facebook rolled out Persian version (beta) of it site. If the browser is set to
Persian then face book will automatically come in Persian or you can change your
language to Persian in the “Language” tab of “My Accounts”. Acknowledging the
contribution of more than 400 Persian speakers they have requested for further
help to improve the Persian version.
